24-May-2016 Lucknow: According to the press release, Prime Minister NarendraModi will virtually launch the Khelo India University Games 2023 (KIUG), and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will meet the players in Lucknow on May 25.

BBD University will play home to Uttar Pradesh’s largest sports event to date. In this 10-day competition, almost 4,000 athletes from over 200 schools will represent 21 different sports. Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, will host the last day of the event on June 3.

According to the official statement, due to the large number of young athletes participating, this competition has been dubbed the “Mahakumbh” of sports in the state.

All of the state’s ministers and officials, including Anurag Thakur, the Union’s Minister of Sports, and NisithPramanik, the Union’s Minister of State for Sports, will be present at this event. The inaugural party will also include a performance by the well-known vocalist KailashKher.

The four towns of Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and GautamBudh Nagar) will host the Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2022.

New Delhi, not only the state capital, will host a shooting tournament.

Lucknow is set to play home to twelve sporting events over eight venues (including archery, judo, mallakhamb, volleyball, fencing, badminton, table tennis, rugby, athletics, hockey, and football).

Three different locations in GautamBudh Nagar (Noida) will play home to five different sporting competitions.

Two sports (Wrestling and Yoga) will be held at IIT-BHU in Varanasi, while Gorakhpur and Delhi will host the rowing and shooting competitions. This is the first Olympics in which rowing has been a medal event.

It was noted that the games’ torch (Mashaal), which set out from Lucknow on May 5 and covered 8,948 miles across 75 districts, arrived back in Lucknow on May 13.
