Baramulla, Dec. 21: The Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Gulmarg has released thorough winter advice in advance of the next winter season with the goal of protecting the security and comfort of motorists on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg Road.

In view of the possibly slick roads throughout the winter, the official directive, which was made public on Thursday, emphasizes the need to take preventative measures to avoid collisions and protracted traffic bottlenecks.

Until the ice thaws, only 4×4 vehicles and those with anti-skid chains will be allowed to travel on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg route, according to the alert.

The directive specifies that only light motor vehicles (LMVs) with a seating capacity of no more than 10 seats will be permitted on the Gulmarg-Tangmarg route in order to minimize traffic bottlenecks and breakdowns.

Only registered anti-skid chain sellers are permitted to operate in designated parking areas in order to allow the installation of anti-skid chains without creating impediments to the road.

Anti-skid chains are required to be purchased at a cost of Rs 600 per pair.

It is forbidden for tour companies and individual vehicle owners to leave their cars parked on the side of the road. Rather, they are instructed to make use of the approved parking spots that are accessible at different Tangmarg sites.

Coat and boot sellers have received specific instructions not to operate on roadways in an attempt to attract visitors and reduce traffic congestion. Inconvenience to visitors and local traffic is to be minimized by this strategy.

According to the official, these preventative steps are put in place to improve general convenience and safety standards throughout the winter months. Until further notice from the authorities, the guidelines described in the advice will persist.
