Ramban, July 26: Over the last several days, the Ramban police have arrested 65 individuals engaged in the smuggling of cattle throughout the Ramban area, recorded 62 cases, and rescued 914 cattle.
According to police sources, 47 separate cars were stopped by the Batote, Chanderkote, Ramban, Ramsu, and Banihal stations after receiving specific information about the illegal transportation of bovine animals on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
They said that 766 cattle were discovered piled into all of these trucks as they were travelling from Jammu to Srinagar.
According to the police, these creatures were kept in automobiles in abhorrent circumstances, with no provision for food or water, and with the greatest amount of cruelty. They said that in addition to this, 148 cattle that were being transported on foot for smuggling and illicit trading were saved.
They claimed that 914 cattle were saved since they were being transferred to the valley without any legal authorization from a competent authority. According to the police, 62 cases were filed in this respect at the police stations in Ramban, Chanderkote, Batote, Banihal, Ramsoo, Gool, Dharamkund, and Gool. According to them, 65 suspects were lodged in these instances.
