The Appointments Committee Secretariat under the Cabinet Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions issued the relevant order.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Thursday, August 3rd, extended Rajiv Gauba, IAS (JH:82)’s tenure as Cabinet Secretary for an additional year, beyond August 3rd, 2023.
This directive was issued by the Appointments Committee Secretariat in the Cabinet Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.
The ruling states that the decision was made to loosen the requirements of Rule 56(d) of the Fundamental Rules and the All India Service (AIS) Death-cum-Retirement Benefits (DCRB) Rules, 1958.
For the next two years, Gauba will serve as the country’s top bureaucrat after having previously served as Union Home Secretary.
In both 2021 and last year’s August, he was handed one-year extensions.
