On Wednesday, July 26th, the Noor Bagh neighbourhood of Sopore commemorated the 13th death anniversary of Ahad Bab, a prominent Sufi saint from the Sopore district of north Kashmir.

Since yesterday night, many of women and children have flocked to the saint’s house to pay their respects and worship at the shrine.

Special prayers and Quranic recitations were performed to mark the event.

“As a follower of Ahad Bab, I make the pilgrimage here annually. Abdul Rashid Bhat, a local of the Bandipora area, stated, “I was personally attached with the great saint, and I have great faith in his shrine.”

He said that believers travelled not just inside Kashmir but even from other countries.

Ahad Bab was born on June 30, 1930, in Sopore, district Baramulla, in Mohalla Ashpeer. On July 26, 2010, at the age of 80, he died away after a short illness. His admirers and relatives celebrate his Urs annually.

Mohammad Rajab, a Pulwama area local and fellow follower of Ahad Bab, declared his unwavering confidence in and devotion to the saint.

Rajab reflected on his passing, stating, “His death was a great loss for his followers and the whole Kashmir valley.” Mohalla Ashapeer is the place of Ahad Bab’s birth. Both his grandfather, Peer Hidayatulla, and father, Peer Mohd Ahsan, were revered members of society for their piety and devotion to Allah as Muslims. His wife, Hajah Begum, was a kind and pious Muslim woman who passed away in 1979.
