Two Hybrid LeT militants were allegedly apprehended in the area on Wednesday.
Police in the Baramulla area of north Kashmir said on Wednesday that they had captured two Hybrid LeT insurgents.
An official informed Kashmir Scroll that during naka checks in the Azad Gung neighbourhood, two Hybrids belonging to the Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist organisation were detained, along with a large quantity of weapons and ammunition.
As Independence Day 2023 approaches, the officer revealed detailed information on the whereabouts and intentions of militants in Baramulla.
Baramulla Police, 53 Bn CRPF, and Army 46 RR formed a combined naka party in the old town of Azadgunj in Baramulla and detained two suspects who were making their way towards the area.
They were promptly brought into arrest when one pistol, one pistol magazine, four live pistol rounds, and one grenade were found on them during a personal search.
Faisal Majeed Ganie, son of Abdul Majeed, of Bungalow Bagh, and Nourul Kamran Ganie, son of Mohammad Akbar Ganie, of Bagh-e-Islam, Old Town, Baramulla, were both named by the official.
According to the official, initial investigations revealed that both suspects are hybrid terrorists with ties to the outlawed terrorist group LeT outfit, and that they had amassed weapons and ammunition in preparation for conducting terrorist activities in Town Baramulla on the eve of Independence Day.
He said that a complaint was filed at Police Station Baramulla under the Indian Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and that investigations were underway. (KS)
