Srinagar, August 25: On Friday, the Crime Branch Kashmir filed a charge sheet against eight government officials for providing birth certificates with a false date of birth.
According to a statement from the agency, the Economic Offences Wing Srinagar of Crime Branch Kashmir presented the charge-sheet against eight accused people in Case FIR No. 28/2021 before the Court of City Munsiff Srinagar for their alleged involvement in commission of offences punishable under Sections 420, 420/511, 202, 468, and 471 of the RPC.
On the basis of a report created by the Director of Agriculture in Kashmir, Crime Branch Kashmir had received a complaint from the Agriculture Production Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir that claimed twelve of the department’s employees had submitted fake D.O.B. certificates when they were first hired into government service. As a result, the investigation into the current case began after it was filed at P/S Crime Branch Kashmir in 2021.
It has been determined through investigation that eight out of the twelve accused people defrauded the Department by submitting false or forged D.O.B. certificates at the time of their initial appointment; as a result of the fraud, they continued to work for the government and improperly benefited from employment benefits past the age at which they were legally eligible to retire on superannuation. As a result, the charge-sheet has been brought against these eight accused parties at the court of competent jurisdiction.
