Jammu, July 25: The J&K Government on Tuesday ordered the transfer of Prof. (Dr.) Shashi Sudan Sharma, the GMC’s principal, and gave Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Gupta, the department’s head of radiotherapy, responsibility for the position “in addition to his own duties.”
Prof. (Dr.) Shashi Sudan Sharma has since been assigned to the Health and Medical Education (HME) Department as Secretary (Technical).
According to a directive issued by Secretary J&K Health and Medical Education Department Bhupinder Kumar, “Prof (Dr) Shashi Sudan Sharma, Principal Government Medical College Jammu, is hereby transferred and posted as Secretary (Technical) in the Health and Medical Education Department, with immediate effect.
The order also stated that Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Gupta, Head of the Radiotherapy Department at the Government Medical College in Jammu, “shall hold the charge of the post of Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, in addition to his own duties, for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
Crime Branch Jammu has charged Prof. Sharma with “tampering with her age in documents to get undue advantage for getting admission in MBBS course at GMC Jammu.” She’s currently out on bond.
