In Baramulla, authorities have detained four people for attempting to smuggle minerals

On August 25th, police in Baramulla confiscated 4 cars and detained 4 people in an effort to crack down on those engaged in the unlawful mining and transportation of minerals.

Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie and Javid Ahmad Sheikh, both of Mehmoodpora Pattan, were arrested and two tractors were seized by a police party led by the station house officer (SHO) of Pattan for their roles in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in that area.

Also, two drivers, Firdous Ahmad Malla of Hardu Aboora and Rameez Ahmad Shah of Batpora Kunzer, were apprehended and two vehicles (a tipper and a tractor) were seized by police who were investigating reports of illegal mineral extraction and transportation.

As a result, cases have been filed at the appropriate police stations under the applicable laws, and investigations have begun.

Anyone caught engaging in illicit extraction operations will face legal consequences. Members of the community are encouraged to alert the police departments about criminal activity in their areas.
