As negative travel advisories imposed by some countries are expected to be removed soon, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, announced on Tuesday that foreign tourist arrivals have shown a surge after a long gap, with a 59% increase in foreign guest arrivals in the UT.

According to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the LG announced at the Independence Day celebration that 1.27 billion people, including foreigners, have visited Jammu and Kashmir so far this year. A sizeable portion of the total are non-native speakers. The number of international visitors has increased by 59% so far this year. The successful G-20 summit this year boosted J&K internationally. A favourable message was sent to the 27 countries represented at the G-20 tourism working group meeting held in Srinagar in May, the LG said. “Jammu and Kashmir are gaining a reputation as a serene, naturally beautiful destination.”

He claimed that this year’s Amarnath Yatra drew in people from all over the world, not only domestic believers.

He stated that four years after the shift, Jammu and Kashmir is now known for its tranquilly and recognition. The LG expressed confidence that the negative travel advisories put on J&K by various nations would be withdrawn in the near future, as reported by KNO.

He assured the public that the government is doing all it can to let ordinary people make their own decisions in life without interference. When LG Sinha first came to J&K three years ago, he said, “I have come to fulfil promises,” rather than make any promises.

He claimed that his government’s goal is to make every person in Jammu and Kashmir happy. We are determined to make Jammu and Kashmir a place of stability, growth, and progress. The LG said that the UT administration is actively trying to define the future of J&K’s 1.30 Cr people through the construction of new roads, train lines, new power projects, airport terminals, cinemas, and riverfronts.

To put the final nail in the coffin of terrorism and its supporting ecosystem, he continued, security forces are working around the clock. The neighbour country’s backing for terrorism had a cancerous effect on the local population. We will make Jammu and Kashmir completely free of terrorist threats, he declared. When honouring those in the armed services who have died defending the country’s borders, the LG remarked that the mountains of J&K are living testimony to the bravery and selflessness of the armed forces’ members. The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation are behind the families of the martyrs, he said.

The J&K L.G. said that 1.27 million visitors had visited the state this year, and that the Amarnath Yatra was proceeding without incident. “For the first time in 34 years, the Muharram procession was allowed to pass through traditional routes,” he stated. According to him, “Kashmir is witnessing home stays, tentage facilities, while film policy, and the opening of 300 new tourist destinations for tourists” are happening in J&K.

The LG promised that the state of J&K will give young people every chance to succeed. He said that Jammu and Kashmir was one of the most digitally advanced regions since it saw 20 million electronic transactions daily. When Azaadi Ka Amrit Kaal finally occurs in 2047, according to the LG, J&K will be recognised as one of the most progressive and developed regions in the country.
