Discusses the state of Jammu and Kashmir’s infrastructure during a roundtable hosted by the India Foundation.
Sunday, July 31st, Srinagar: While speaking at a round table discussion on the development status in the Union territory held by India Foundation on Monday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that the government does not believe in buying peace but in constructing peace in J&K.
A government release claimed that the Lt Governor, speaking through video conference, discussed the “stellar journey of Jammu Kashmir towards peace, prosperity, and unprecedented development.”
The changes at J&K UT in the last four years have been remarkable. We have eradicated a system of discrimination that had been in place for over seven decades and instituted progressive policies that have helped millions of people. The people may do as they like rather than having their lives planned out for them,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lt. Governor spoke highly of the measures undertaken by the administration to create a calm and conducive atmosphere that would allow the people of Jammu and Kashmir to flourish.
“For the first time since J&K’s independence, ordinary people there may speak their minds without fear of retaliation from the separatist-terrorist network. The Lt. Governor said, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, the common man is experiencing one of the greatest transformations in modern history.”
He argued that the quick social transformation evident in people’s day-to-day lives was just as significant as the rapid economic development and unprecedented growth with equality. The will to succeed is on the rise, he said.
The path to progress begins with establishing peace. Also, we are not advocates of purchasing peace but rather building it. Intention and policy are interchangeable. The Lt. Governor made the observation that “discriminatory policies imposed for 70 years are gone and citizens are getting equal opportunities for development.”
According to him, J&K is on the rise thanks to the calm G20 summit, the return of the movie industry, and the record number of visitors that visited J&K UT this year.
