Kashmir’s Tulip Garden opened on March 26, launching the tourist season and raising airfares to Srinagar, making it more costly than international travel.
High ticket rates dissuade visitors and drain people’ budgets who travel from Srinagar to other areas of the nation.
The typical Delhi-Srinagar ticket has increased from Rs 4000 to Rs 5000 to Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000.
Other Indian city fares have also risen sharply.
Soaring air travel prices have made it harder for Srinagar residents to go beyond Kashmir or return for employment, education, or medical reasons.
Jammu and Kashmir Hoteliers Club Chairman Mushtaq Chaya lamented the excessive airfare surge, which has distressed people.
“The government should punish those who set arbitrary prices. He stated airfare caps are necessary to avoid hardship for everybody.
Travel dealer Manzoor Ahmad stated, “Air tickets to Kashmir are now costlier than flights to Gulf countries. Although we encourage tourism year-round, these tickets make us more costly than international places. Pricing should be regulated by the government.”
A House Standing Committee expressed concern that certain domestic airline carriers’ high prices and pricing techniques were deceiving the public and forcing customers to pay more.
