Jammu, 21 August: Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of doing nothing significant in Ladakh, but senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta responded forcefully today, saying that in contrast to Congress hypocrisy and lip service, the BJP has actually done real work, beginning with the long-overdue demand to grant Ladakh UT status.
Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, made several remarks during his visit to the Ladakh UT, which Gupta responded to in a statement. He said that the BJP had satisfied the long-overdue ambitions of Ladakhis and had thereby secured their support. The Congress party finds this annoying, and everything Rahul says is completely false. He claimed that the party’s leader, despite having been in power for more than 70 years, treated Ladakh like a second-class region and never bothered to bring justice to its residents because money used to travel to this location via Kashmir, with a sizable portion having been syphoned off by corrupt regimes in the past.
“It was the BJP that made sure there was direct financing in Ladakh, giving the LAHDC the authority it needed to prevent any kind of mismanagement by lawbreakers. However, it was the BJP that fulfilled this dream of the people, and today they are more than satisfied and enjoying rights to the hilt,” he said, adding that Rahul cannot deceive the public by fabricating false information because the public is well informed and is aware of which party is telling the truth and which is not.
In response, Kavinder questioned the Congress politician, asking him to identify one big project his party had undertaken specifically for the Ladakhi people. He said that the general public and Congress leadership are both aware that nothing has been accomplished for Ladakh.
