Jammu, August 11: Samagra Shiksha, J&K, under the purview of School Education department (SED), conducted a big event to celebrate the heroism and sacrifices of the dead warriors at Government Higher Secondary School Sunjwan, here. This event was part of a series of activities under the Meri Maati Mera Desh campaign.
Principal Secretary, Education, Alok Kumar was the chief guest, according to a statement issued here by the city’s chief operating officer. Also present were Ashok Kumar Sharma, director of schools in Jammu, Iftikhar Hussain, director of finances for the state education department, and Deep Raj, director of the Samagra Shiksha programme.
Alok Kumar, who gave the keynote address, emphasised that showing patriotism for one’s country is everyone’s duty, both individually and collectively. He went on to say that the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign is meant to pay tribute to the courageous souls of the country who gave their lives protecting the general populace.
In an homage to the Veers and Veeranganas who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the country, he said that this campaign is planned to begin on August 9, 2023 as the culmination of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
The Principal Secretary said that ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ also foresees a unifying celebration of India’s land and heroism, marking the nation’s path of independence and growth. He stressed the importance of this programme in fostering a feeling of national pride and motivating future generations to preserve India’s cultural legacy by encouraging a connection with the country and recognising its heroes.
Alok Kumar said once again that the message of the PM should permeate every area of the UT through students and teachers, since the School Education Department is the biggest department. He said that residents from the Panchayat, Village, Block, and Municipal levels are participating in events and ceremonies organised as part of the campaign.
The Principal Secretary said that numerous schools have been renamed to memorialise the victims, and that unique inscriptions would also be put in their memory. He also said that the ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ will be held all across the UT, with 7,500 kalshs of dirt being transported from all over India to Delhi’s Kartayavya Path for the ceremony.
Alok Kumar went on to say that young people are mostly responsible for being patriotic since they make up such a large portion of our country. About 188,000 kids, he said, would go to historic places inside J&K, while another 1,880 will travel beyond the state. He also added that more than 1.5 million pupils will be taken on field excursions to teach them about our country’s history and instill moral principles in them.
