Kupwara, 29 July: On Saturday, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, the general officer commanding the 15 Corps, and his wife paid respects at the Sharda temple close to the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara region of north Kashmir.
Lt Gen Ghai was welcomed by members of the Sharda Temple Committee, and chairman of the Save Sharda Committee Ravinder Panday congratulated him for coming to the Sharda Temple.
Lt Gen Ghai made his first trip to the border town of Teethwal in Karnah since assuming the position of GOC 15 Corps on June 14 of this year.
The GOC 15 Corps also celebrated the opening of a Pahari Culture Centre in the Tangdhar neighbourhood and praised the community’s efforts to uphold the long-standing custom of intercommunal harmony.
The GOC of the Vajr Division was joined by Major General Girish Kalia and other senior Army personnel.
Additionally present was Major General Girish Kalia, GOC for the 28 Infantry Division.
Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, practically opened the refurbished Mata Sharda Devi shrine in March of this year.
