On Sunday, night temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir, including Gulmarg and Pahalgam, rose above sub-zero levels. Weathermen predicted no substantial weather activity till March 27 evening.
A meteorological department official told GNS that Srinagar’s low was 10.2°C, up from 6.5°C the night before, and 5.2°C above usual for the summer capital of JK.
Compared to 5.8°C the night before, Qazigund’s low was 6.8°C, 3.1°C above usual for Kashmir’s gateway town.
Pahalgam’s low was 3.6°C, 3.2°C above average for the south Kashmir resort, compared to – 1.1°C the night before.
The official stated Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, saw a low of 7.7°C, 4.4°C higher than the previous night’s 5.6°C.
The official claimed Kupwara town’s low was 8.1°C, 4.9°C above average, compared to 5.6°C the night before.
Gulmarg dropped to 1.4°C from minus 2.5°C the night before and was 3.0°C above average for the world-famous skiing resort in Baramulla, north Kashmir.
He added Jammu’s low was 17.2°C, 1.7°C above typical for J&K’s winter capital.
He reported a low of 9.0°C in Banihal, 10.0°C in Batote, and 9.0°C in Bhaderwah.
He predicted mostly dry weather for the next 24 hours with very little rain/TS in isolated areas of Jammu & Kashmir.
“Overall, no significant weather activity is expected till March 27 evening,” he added. “From March 27 evening to March 28, generally cloudy weather with light rain/snow is expected (higher reaches) at many places.”
He predicted partly overcast weather with mild rain/snow in isolated areas starting March 29.
He predicted partly overcast weather with occasional light rain/snow from March 30-31.
