Aug. 25 (Srinagar): On Friday, three suspected drug traffickers were arrested and charged under the 1988 Act for the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.

The police have released a statement saying that 54 drug traffickers have been arrested in Baramulla this year under the PIT-NDPS Act after receiving official detention orders from the relevant authorities.

Rouf Ahmad Wani, originally from Roshan abad Pinjoora Kunzer, Bashir Ahmad Malla, originally from Dhobiwan Kunzer, and Farooq Ahmad Mir, originally from Zaspora Tangmarg, were the three drug traffickers apprehended.

They were taken into custody and imprisoned in Central Jail KotBhalwal Jammu after being formally charged.

These drug traffickers have been the subject of several criminal complaints.

They have supplied drugs to young people in Pinjoora, Kunzer, Dhobiwan, Zaspora, and Tangmarg, all of which are located in the Baramulla region.

Police said that suspects implicated in many FIRs had not changed their methods and were once again providing drugs to minors in the area.

In Baramulla, 54 drug traffickers have been arrested this year under the PIT-NDPS Act and the Public Safety Act.

Drug addiction has decreased dramatically in Baramulla as a result of persistent efforts to crack down on drug dealers.
