According to sources, land and rock falls at Gamnook, Jawari close to Sumber caused the closure of the Haroog-Sumber connection road in Dhramkund.

Numerous railway construction company cars working on the digging for the Udhampur-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) were trapped at Sumber as a result of the route being blocked.

Locals said that on Thursday night at Gamnook Jawari near Sumber, a private construction company’s employees and equipment reportedly carried out excavation operations on a precipitous rock beside the road.

They said that when they were quarrying and carrying raw materials to a crusher, a sizable landslip obstructed the road and happened during the excavation operation.

Locals said that while the railway construction business sent a JCB machine to work on Thursday morning to clean debris, the operation was halted at 5 pm.

By requesting that additional equipment be brought into service to remove collected debris so that the road connection could be restored, the locals have made an appeal to the government and urged an urgent restoration of the road.
