Government Programme: The Indian government operates a number of programmes to help women become financially independent and self-sufficient. Mahila Samman Bachat Patra Yojana (Mahila Samman Bachat Patra Yojana) is one of them. Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, revealed the programme when she unveiled the budget for 2023–24. It began on April 1st, 2023.

The programme allows women to create several accounts. It is now reaping higher benefits. Until March 31, 2025, investments may be made in the investment plan. The government now charges 7.5 percent interest on this programme. You may invest in multiples of 100. A total of Rs. 2 lakh may be invested in this.

More than 14 lakh accounts have been established as of Monday, the government said in the Lok Sabha, under the Mahila Samman Bachat Patra Yojana. The entire amount raised up to this point is Rs. 8630 crore. The central government launched this programme via post offices, public sector banks, and several other private institutions in response to the scheme’s rising popularity. Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, and ICICI Bank all permit female account opening.

Personal details including a proof of identification and residence must be provided in order to create a Mahila Samman Savings Account. It will be necessary to provide an Aadhaar card, passport, picture, and address evidence. To get and complete the application for establishing an account, go to the bank and post office.
