As of Monday, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) via the UT government have an official agreement in place for the transfer of the 139.4 acres formerly held by the army.

The land will be used for the tourism promotion now as J-K administration is all set to come up with a first ever world class Amusement Park at Tatoo ground to attract tourists and locals round the clock.

According to official sources, the Ministry of military signed an MoU with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) via the administration of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) to transfer 139.04 acres of military land at Tatoo ground Srinagar to be used for tourist development. J-K LG The signing of the MOU took place at Rajbhawan Singar, under the auspices of Manoj Sinha.

Tattoo Ground Garrison and Defence Estate Officer Kashmir Circle Srinagar reportedly represented the MoU locally.

Within 120 days, the Ministry of Defence will transfer ownership of the land. The LG praised the army’s cooperation and hailed the decision as a watershed moment in the expansion of J&K’s tourist industry.

“We will make honest and dedicated efforts to fulfil all the conditions of the MoU and develop tourism and other related activities in such a way that the tourists visiting Kashmir valley find Tattoo ground as one of the most attractive destinations,” he added.

Even though the military was handed new land in 2003 in Shariefabad, Budgam, past governments nevertheless made efforts to reclaim the property. According to reports, an MoU was signed between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Health and Welfare after the LG administration continued negotiations with the military.

Reports indicate that a “world-class amusement park” would soon be constructed on the Tatoo ground, complete with state-of-the-art rides, restaurants, and other attractions to draw visitors from all over the globe.

Except for a few of newly opened riverfronts, there is little nightlife in Kashmir. According to those familiar with the idea, the amusement park at Tatoo ground would draw in a massive crowd of visitors and residents thanks to its constant operation.

The decision to sign the MoU was described as “historic” by Vijay Kumar Bhiduri, the divisional commissioner of Kashmir.

“The land will be used for tourism development in a major way,” he stated. It’s predicted that “Tatoo ground will be most happening place of Kashmir very soon.”

GoC 15 Corps Lt General Rajiv Ghai, Principal Secretary to LG Mandeep Kuamr Bhandari, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bhiduri, and other high-ranking military and government officials witnessed the signing of the MoU. (KNO)
