Police said that stone throwing at T-2 and continuing work to fix potholes in Dalwass kept the roadway closed for 1 hour and 18 minutes.
On Thursday, August 3rd, rolling stones halted traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at the T-2 tunnel Kelamorh in Ramban.
Highway officials reported that stone throwing at T-2 and continuing work related to fixing potholes at Dalwass kept the road closed for 1 hour and 18 minutes.
They said that “in addition, traffic flow remained slow due to single lane road stretch at Dalwass and Mehar-Cafeteria and breakdown of few Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) between Nashri and Banihal tunnels.”
Long lines of cars formed at Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, and tunnel T-2 because of the lack of two-way traffic.
The roadway was open and traffic was flowing freely on both sides, according to Ramban traffic authorities. The cars were making sluggish progress towards their destinations, however. On the highway going through Ramban, where traffic is being cleared on a one way basis at single lane road sections, the pace of travel is slow.
Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to travel on both sides of the highway beginning this Friday, according to a new advise issued by the J&K Traffic Police Department.
On Friday, “HMVs will be allowed to ply towards Jammu,” the advise said.
