Two non-Indians, both inspired by Swami Vivekananda, have been performing ceremonies in the sacred cave as part of the current annual Amarnath Yatra.

The sacred pilgrimage of Amarnath Yatra was the realisation of a lifelong desire for two American citizens living in California. Swami Vivekananda’s journey to Amarnath is discussed.

After having darshan (a close up look) at Lord Shiva’s Ice Lingam, the international pilgrims who did the yatra claimed words failed them.

To get here seemed like something out of a dream. Everything fell into place, though, thanks to Bholenath, and here we are…In the words of one American pilgrim from California: “We can’t articulate how we feel.

“With the blessings of Bhole Baba, this time we managed to visit, and we are feeling completely blessed,” he stated.

Swami Vivekananda visited Amarnath and had a life-altering epiphany there. It’s been forty years since I first heard this tale. According to one traveller, “coming here was like a dream come true.”

He gushed over the outstanding organisation that keeps this yatra running, saying the pilgrims are overwhelmed with appreciation and joy.

In these mountains, there is a tranquilly of their own. The world needs this type of peace, he said.
