A man named Bharov Singh, the son of Pawan Kumar, allegedly assaulted Ram Krishan, the son of Nand Lal, also of the hamlet of Dhosa Gandoh, with an axe and killed him right there.

Anju Devi, the wife of Chouanry Gandoh resident Chander Parkash, was also hurt and sent to Doda for treatment.

He added that the SDPO of Gandoh, Adil Hussain, and the SHO of the police station in Gandoh, Inspr Vikram Singh, raced to the scene and, after a lot of hard work and careful manoeuvring, captured the suspect from a high ridge in the jungle. The accused hurt himself with the instrument of crime (an axe) while being apprehended.

At the Gandoh police station, a First Information Report (FIR) No. 55/2023 was filed under sections 302, 307, and 342.

At first glance, the event seems to have its roots in long-standing animosity between the two parties involved. A debate over the removal of stones served as the first spark for what would become a violent assault.
