On Wednesday, June 7 in Bengaluru, former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda had a visit from National Conference President and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah.

The speculation that Dev Gowda’s JD-S and the BJP may form an alliance ahead of the 2018 Lok Sabha elections has increased the significance of the meeting.

However, Farooq Abdullah told reporters afterward that the encounter had been friendly. I told Deve Gowda how appreciative I was of his work as prime minister of Jammu and Kashmir. Deve Gowda travelled to Jammu and Kashmir when no one else dared. He even went as far as the border regions, he stated.

When asked about the third front, he said that everyone should preserve India since it is a nation where there is unity in diversity.

Nitish Kumar, chief minister of Bihar, has summoned a conference of opposition parties, and he has insisted that these gatherings are important. He said that the opposition parties’ gathering was crucial in light of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. When asked why Nitish Kumar hadn’t invited the JD-S, he insisted that opportunities will present themselves in due time. It is of the highest significance that everyone go together.

When asked why elections in Jammu and Kashmir were being postponed, Abdullah said they should take place as soon as possible. He questioned why anybody would want to stop elections in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Abdullah further said that planned films like “Kashmir Files” and “Kerala Story” were intended to cause strife in the nation. These are also detrimental to the Constitution. These films are harmful to the national interest.
