Rashmi Singh, Commissioner State Taxes, J&K, paid a visit to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan on Thursday.

An official spokeswoman said in a statement published today that she was accompanied by Additional Commissioner State Taxes Kashmir Shakeel Maqbool.

Singh informed the LG that the State Taxes Department of J&K has received the SKOCH Award 2023 in the Finance Silver category for its effective implementation of GST and record growth in the previous fiscal year via creative methods that combined regulatory and promotional initiatives.

She informed the LG of the department’s measures to raise taxpayer knowledge, including as seminars, workshops, and outreach activities to educate taxpayers on their rights and duties under the Kartavya scheme.

The LG praised the department’s efforts in ensuring the effective introduction of GST and subsequent successes.

He described obtaining the SKOCH Award as a noteworthy achievement that represents the team’s devotion and hard work.

J&K, with a GST GDP ratio of 3.65, is one of the best-performing GST jurisdictions in the nation, with GST revenues accounting for up to 45 percent of the state’s own tax income.

GST collection growth has greatly surpassed GSDP growth in the previous two fiscal years, reflecting greater tax base and tax compliance.
