“It is to be noted that all the Doctors in the Central Government Hospitals/CGHS Wellness Centers/Polyclinics have been instructed time and time again to prescribe generic medicines only,” reads an order from the Director General of Health Services (DGHS). The office directive makes it plain that anyone who refuse to comply would face repercussions if they persist in their disobedience: “If anyone continues to be non-compliant, he/she shall be liable for further action.”

It is also possible to guarantee that medical reps’ access to hospital grounds is strictly limited. It is OK to use email as the only means of disseminating news of a product rollout.
