Srinagar, June 19: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, said on Monday that the police have effectively dealt with the difficulties of terrorism, law and order, and modernization, and that the forces, via its internal security management, are ensuring that a common person lives in an environment free from fear.

Speaking to a crowd on the occasion of the finale of the Jashn-e-Dal event at SKICC on the banks of Dal Lake in this city, LG Sinha said that the people of Kashmir are now living in a tranquil environment as a direct result of the effective administration of the state’s internal security. “J&K police have successfully dealt with the challenges of terrorism, law and order, and modernization,” he said, adding that through its civic action programmes that include Pedal for Peace and Jashn-e-Dal, people participated in scores of sports related events and chose their futures in a variety of sports related fields.

According to the LG, there were more than 700 athletes who participated in the Jashn-e-Dal programme. “Dal Lake is more than just a lake; it is the source of local pride.” He said that those individuals who have already contributed to the cleaning of the Lake had to keep up their efforts so that the Lake may be thoroughly cleansed. The Youth Services Sports Department deserves praise for the outstanding work that they’ve done. “Over the course of the previous year, sixty lakh young people in J&K took part in a variety of sporting events and activities. According to him, there is seldom a municipality in which a major competition or other sporting event does not take place every single day.

The Chief Minister (LG) said that the government has improved the sporting facilities located across J&K. “The areas of Jammu and Kashmir are home to two different international stadiums. In addition to multi-purpose sporting facilities, each municipality and panchayat also has volleyball courts and football fields, as he said. He said that Srinagar has taken on a new persona, and he also mentioned that there is a debate going on over whether or not Delhi ought to model itself after Srinagar in terms of its approach to growth and reorganisation.
