Srinagar, Nov. 28: The Jammu and Kashmir government dismissed a senior prosecuting officer (PO) on Tuesday for accepting a Rs. 2 lakh bribe in connection with a murder case.

While serving as Senior Prosecuting Officer in the court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class Thanamandi, Aijaz ul Hassan allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a murder suspect, as per an order issued by the Home Department.

The ruling states that the officer broke the J&K Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971, by acting in a way that was inappropriate for a government employee and by failing to uphold the highest standards of honesty.

The statement said, “The officer’s actions amounted to a violation of Rule 3 of the J&K Employees (Conduct) Rules, 1971.”

It also said that, as a result, Aijaz-Ul-Hassan, the senior prosecuting officer in charge, is removed from service with immediate effect in accordance with Rule 30(viii) of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control, and Appeal) Rules, 1956. This dismissal would also bar him from holding any position in the future.
