Kupwara, October 1: During a combined operation between the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian army in the Machil area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, a significant cache of rifles and ammunition was seized, according to the authorities.
A large stockpile of rifles and ammunition was discovered in the Poshmargi district of Machhal, according to a statement released by a police spokesperson. The operation that led to the discovery was a big cooperative effort by the Kupwara Police Department and the Indian Army.
According to the statement, the operation was started on the basis of particular information generated by the Kupwara Police. This highlights the steadfast dedication of our security personnel to upholding peace and security in the area.
“On the afternoon of September 30, 2023, an operation that had been methodically prepared and was characterised by its hard terrain and the ever-present danger presented by anti-national elements got underway in the suspected area. The Kupwara Police and the Indian Army worked together to perform a joint operation that was carried out with precision and commitment, displaying both organisations’ desire to protect the country.
The statement reads, “During the exhaustive search operation, a natural cave yielded a treasure trove of arms and ammunition that had been illicitly transported across the Line of Control (LoC)”. The haul included: 1 AK Series Rifle, 4 AK Magazines, 2 UBGL (Under Barrel Grenade Launcher), 2 Hand Grenades, 26 UBGL Grenades, 2088 rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition, and 1 silencer.
“This astounding discovery is a testament to the vigilance and proactive stance adopted by the police and army in the process of curbing the inflow of arms and ammunition into the hands of terrorists operating in the region,” the spokesperson said. According to the statement, this “highlights the commitment of our forces to thwart any attempt to disrupt peace and security in the valley.”
“The recovery operation demonstrates the dedication of our security forces to protecting our borders and ensuring the safety of our citizens,” said the president of the United States. The statement comes to a conclusion by saying that “their unrelenting efforts in intelligence gathering and swift action have unquestionably made our nation more secure.”
