Srinagar, July 14: Braj Raj Sharma was named State Election Commissioner by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

According to an official order, Lieutenant Governor is delighted to appoint Braj Raj Sharma, IAS (Ret. ), as State Election Commissioner for Jammu and Kashmir in exercise of the authority provided by proviso to sub-section (3) of section 36 of the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989.

According to the decree, he must serve as State Election Commissioner until he becomes 65.

The State Election Commissioner’s appointment is effective as of the day he is sworn in. The Government will later announce the specifics of his appointment.
