From 02-11-2023, 1700 hrs., to 03-11-2023, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement noticed on NH-44 owing to the breakdown of 07 HMVs, the poor surface condition of the road at Dalwas, and single-lane traffic at Cafeteria-Mehad, Magerkote, and Nachlana between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.
Travellers and LMV drivers are urged to avoid nighttime trips on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. Please refrain from travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., since the migration of nomads from the Kashmir valley towards Jammu may create trouble for commuters. In addition, drivers are urged to ensure their cars are in good working order and to stock up on petrol before setting out on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Dhar Road will be open to heavy vehicles with just 6 and 10 tyres.
If the weather is nice and the roads are clear, traffic in both directions (Jammu to Srinagar and Srinagar to Jammu) on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will be permitted. Drivers are reminded to maintain proper lane formation.
Movement of the SF Convoy:Security Forces vehicles would be permitted to travel from both ends of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), from Jammu in the direction of Srinagar and vice versa, provided that the weather cooperates and the roads are in decent shape.
The SSG Road
The Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road will be open to vehicular traffic in both directions (from Srinagar to Kargil and vice versa) when the weather is nice and the roads are passable. Between 7:30 and 11:30, only LMVs, followed by HMVs, will be permitted to travel from Minamarg to Srinagar.
Similarly, between 1300 and 1700, LMVs followed by HMVs would be permitted to travel from Sonamarg to Kargil. No vehicles will be permitted beyond the posted closing times.
The SFs convoy that travels between Srinagar and Kargil will depart at 8:00 a.m.
The SFs convoy travelling between Drass and Srinagar must coordinate their routes so as to minimise disruptions to civilian traffic.
Mughal Highway:
As long as the route is passable, traffic may flow freely from Poonch to Shopian and vice versa along the Mughal route. Between the hours of 06:00 and 18:00, these cars will be permitted to leave Behramgalla (Buffiaz) and Herpora (Shopian). If a car arrives after the deadline, it will not be accepted.
Travellers should only proceed on NH-44 if they have first confirmed the road’s condition with one of the following traffic control units in Jammu (0191-2459048), Srinagar (019-2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103), Ramban (9419993745), Udhampur (8491928625), or PCR Kishtwar (9906154100) before setting out.
