November 12, Srinagar: In response to popular demand, the public will now have access to the Director General of Police (DGP) in Jammu and Kashmir on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The necessity for residents to have direct access to the DGP without the burden of appointments in advance was the driving force behind the decision, which was spurred by ideas from a variety of community sectors.
According to a police spokesman, “During interacting with prominent citizens of the community in Kashmir from different walks of life, including trade and industries, a suggestion came that general citizens in Kashmir Valley should also be able to access DGP without any hassle of prior appointments to convey their grievances and seek redressal.”

That being said, on the designated Saturdays, the public engagement window with the DGP is slated to run from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

In Peerbagh, Hyderpora, and Srinagar, the sessions would be held at the Police Headquarters (PHQ).

In order to reduce annoyance to the public, the police department has promised that in the event that a specific meeting cannot take place because of unforeseen obligations, early notice will be sent out via PHQ J&K social media accounts.
