Rahul Gandhi’s meeting with former Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg and other parliamentarians, according to Congress leader K.C. Venugopal, was “extremely significant for India’s development story” on Tuesday.

Venugopal said that Rahul Gandi’s journey to Europe “is not just a courtesy visit, but a global conversation on welfare and social justice” in a long post on X (previously Twitter).

“India’s welfare measures have been exceptional since independence, be it the mid-day meal scheme, MGNREGA, or the Congress’ current policy direction,” he stated in the X post.

“Our plan designs often draw from Norwegian and Scandinavian thinking, and a mutually beneficial discussion on these themes will go a long way towards reducing poverty and obtaining better overall outcomes.

“Our government will be well-thought-out, progressive, and solely focused on aiding the poor,” Venugopal said. “When we come to power in 2024.

Rahul Gandhi has already been to Belgium, France, the Netherlands, and Norway as part of his vacation to Europe.

He conducted interaction programmes at the universities of Oslo, SciencePO, Leiden, and Inalco, as well as meeting businesspeople and others from the Indian diaspora.
