According to Srinagar, which is the second oldest city in the nation, art has played an important role.

September 9, Srinagar: Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, the Secretary of Tourism for Jammu and Kashmir, said on Saturday that the state government would make every effort to provide Jammu and Kashmir’s burgeoning artists with opportunities to showcase their work.

Following the opening of the two-day art show titled “Reflections” here at City Mall, the Secretary of Tourism, as reported by the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that organising such events is an excellent chance for aspiring artists.

“Kashmir is rich in historical sites and artefacts. According to him, “Srinagar is the second oldest city in the country, after Kashi; our recorded history dates back somewhere around 4,000 years; and here, art has played an important role.”

In addition, the Secretary of Tourism noted that such events are giving artists a platform to showcase their work and are recognising those with brilliant ideas.

“The government will do whatever is required for these budding artists in order to provide them a platform and recognise their talent,” he said, adding that ultimately an artist does this for his or her own self-recognition in society (KNO).
