Monday, June 9th, 2014, in Srinagar: The J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) released the results of the 12th grade exams on Friday, and 287 students, including 156 from government schools throughout Jammu and Kashmir, tied for the top 10 spots.

The top 10 spots in the Science stream were filled by a total of 161 students.

With a score of 496 out of 500, Shahid Bashir, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar, graduated at the top of his class from Fayaz Educational Institute in Faizabad Nowgam, Srinagar.

Second place went to Mustaqeem Afaq, son of Afaq Ashraf Beigh of Tyndale Biscoe Higher Secondary School, Srinagar, with 495 marks, while third place went to Haifa Sajad, daughter of Sajad Ahmad of Mallinson Girls Higher Secondary School, Srinagar, with 494 marks.

Of the top 10 Commerce students, 63 are from public schools, including 29 in the top two spots.

First place in her class goes to Irtiza Manzoor, daughter of Manzoor Ahmad Shah, who attended Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Zadibal, Srinagar, and earned a total of 491 points.

Six students with 490 total points tied for second place.

Students from Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI), Ellahi Bagh, Srinagar, Fiza Zahra, daughter of Altaf Hussain Mir; Kritika Dogra, daughter of Yashpal; Muskan Maqbool, daughter of Muhammad Maqbool Lone; Shriya Pathania, daughter of Ravinder Singh; SP Senior Secondary School, Bari Brahmana, Samba; and Syed Abid Rashid, son of Syed Rashid,

Fifth place was shared by five students with 489 total points.

The position has been held by several different people: Aamir Fayaz Wani, son of Fayaz Ahmad Wani from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Bandipora; Musaib, son of Mansoor Ahmad Hakak from Kashmir Harvard Higher Secondary School, Habak, Naseem Bagh, Srinagar; Naziya Nissar, daughter of Nissar Ahmad Khan; Sadiya Waheed, daughter of Abdul Waheed Wani from Government Girls Higher

In the Arts category, the top 10 spots were shared by a total of 53 pupils, 38 of whom attended public schools.

Mahveen Wani, daughter of Javed Akbar Wani, topped the class at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHHS), Amira Kadal, Srinagar, with a score of 495.

The second-place finisher was Adaa Manzoor, daughter of Manzoor Ahmed Dar from GGHSS, Amira Kadal, Srinagar. She received 494 total points.

In third place, a tie exists between three students who each received a score of 493.

Girls from GGHSS Kothi Bagh, Srinagar, include Misba, daughter of Mehraj-ud-Din, and Azmat Zehra, daughter of Tahir Nisar Bhat from GVEI.

Students from government schools all throughout Kashmir earned the top ten spots in the Home Science subject area.
