South Kashmir is the target of NIA raids related to the OGW network

On Tuesday, June 13th, the NIA seized the home in the Shalteng neighbourhood of Srinagar where imprisoned Hurriyat (G) leader Ayaz Akbar was staying.

Kashmir News Observer (KNO) cites anonymous officials as saying, “this is to inform all members of the public that the immovable property i.e. land measuring 1 Kanal and 10 Marias under Survey No, 31 at mauza Shalteng Tehsil Srinagar (J8K), in the name of Muhammad Akbar Khanday has been attached by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).” Accordingly, the assets of Ab. Rehman Khanday, resident of Malora near Imam-ul-Bana Masjid, P.S. Parimpora, Srinagar, J&K, doing business as Abadi Deh, have been attached by the Special NIA Court, Patiala House Courts, New Dehli, under the Court Orders on May 31, 2023 in RC-101 20177 NIA/ DLI. Ayaz Akbar Khanday’s father, Muhammad Akbar Khanday, has been imprisoned at New Delh’s Tihar Jail for the last six years. In April of this year, Ayaz Akbar lost his wife to cancer.
