Today, June 14th: Shri Amarnath Ji yearly pilgrimage via Baltal route was evaluated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today, according to a government release. Senior officials from the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Civil Administration, Police, CAPFs, and Army met in Sonamarg for a review meeting before the on-site inspection. Those in attendance included the CEO, Mandeep Kumar Bhandari; the Commissioner/Secretary, Mandeep Kaur; the ADGP, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar; the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri; and the CEO, Vijay Kumar.The Lieutenant Governor assessed the infrastructure in place to provide for the health and safety of the pilgrims in terms of medical care, power, communication, water supply and sanitation, forecasting, disaster management, and a comprehensive security system.He ordered that enough medical professionals, support personnel, equipment, drugs, and oxygen tanks be stored at Yatra Base Camp. Before the start of the Yatra, BRO was tasked with gathering all necessary supplies and completing all outstanding tasks.

The Lt. Governor emphasised the need of providing round-the-clock access to healthcare services in Yatra, a region with challenging topography and low oxygen levels.

The Lieutenant Governor urged the government workers to make sure that the yatra route and night air services were well connected. Tented lodgings were also to be equipped with fire safety measures per his direction.

The whole of Yatra’s preparations have been improved. The appropriate authorities should do all in their power to ensure that the pilgrimage goes off without a hitch.

The Lt Governor saw the DRDO Hospital and other amenities being built at the Yatra Base Camp in Baltal.

The facility has been promised to be fully operational by June 17th.
