According to Ramban’s traffic authority, Saturday’s disruption of traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway lasted for more than 15 hours

According to reports, the roadway was closed for 15 hours and 15 minutes during the course of the previous 24 hours, from 5 p.m. on Saturday till now.

Highway officials said that the shutdown of the Chenani-Nashri tunnel kept traffic at a standstill for 14 hours and 22 minutes.

They said that a minibus overturned in the middle of the road at the Dalwass slip near Nashri, blocking the highway for 33 minutes, and that repairing potholes on the highway in Mehar, Ramban, took 20 minutes.

Authorities said that traffic was delayed between Nashri and Banihal owing to the breakdown of Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) and the nomads’ need to carry their cattle on foot.

Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) two-way through traffic has been cleared, according to Ramban’s traffic regulators.

According to reports, the HMVs flew towards the direction of Kashmir.

As a result of the tail up to Srinagar-bound convoy being delayed, Saturday’s planned movement of HMVs destined for Jammu was cancelled, according to traffic authorities.

Meanwhile, the J&K Traffic Department has issued a new advisory for Sunday, saying that heavy vehicles (HMVs) will be permitted to travel from Qazigund, Kashmir, towards Jammu, and light vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted to travel on either side of the highway, pending favourable weather and road conditions.
