Srinagar saw the rescue of many youngsters who had been forced to beg

Officials in Srinagar said on Monday that they had rescued many youngsters from the Parimpora neighbourhood who had been coerced into begging.

The Child Protection Welfare Team reportedly conducted a raid in the Parimpora region today and rescued a number of youngsters, both local and non-local, according to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), which cited an official.

Some brokers, he alleged, had young kids begging for a living against their will.

An officer with the Srinagar police department claimed that they worked with the Juvenile Justice Board to carry out the rescue.

He said that numerous people, including three children from Parimpora, were saved.
