At 9 a.m., there was another small quake with a magnitude of 2.2.

According to a picture shared by the National Centre of Seismology, the 9th earthquake since Tuesday happened at 3:50 am 11 km east of the town of Bhaderwah, between Jai Ghati and Alni-gangota in Bhalessa. This was the 9th earthquake since Tuesday.

The quake had a magnitude of 4.4 and hit at 32.96 degrees North, 75.79 degrees West, and 11 km deep.

ADC Bhaderwah Dilmir Chowdhary said, “An alert has been sounded across the hilly district, but as of now, there have been no more reports of deaths, injuries, or damage to buildings.”

“District Magistrate Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan has already told people not to go into buildings that have cracks, and school officials have been told to hold classes outside for the time being instead of in classrooms,” the ADC said.

The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 5.4, shook the whole Chenab Valley on Tuesday. It was followed by two aftershocks with magnitudes of 4.3 and 2.2 within 12 hours. Since then, the ground under the Chenab region and Bhaderwah valley in particular has been shaking regularly.

Earth science experts and the National Centre for Seismology say that most earthquakes and aftershocks have happened in or near Bhaderwah valley.
