Srinagar, June 25: Today, Jammu and Kashmir Police presented their annual ‘Pedal for Peace’ cycling competition awards to its participants. The event was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinah.
The Lieutenant Governor presented the award recipients with certificates of appreciation and complimented them on their success. This year’s ‘Pedal for Peace’ had the participation of 2,557 cyclists in 8 different categories.
The greatest strength of the J&K government is the young people’s will to work together towards a common objective. The J&K UT has become the “land of Enterprise, Innovation, and Invention,” as the Lt. Governor put it, and the whole nation is proud of the young people there.
“Pedal for Peace is a symbol of peace, progress, and prosperity, and all the efforts are being made to ensure that our youth can improve the sporting talents they already have, are provided with opportunities to excel, and have their unique qualities celebrated,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor spoke at length about the efforts of the J&K UT administration to foster a culture of athletics during the event.
Sports serve as a unifying force because they appeal to individuals of various backgrounds and cultures. The Lieutenant Governor made the observation that it is the most effective means of attaining broad objectives.
The next generation of Indians has a growing desire to see their country modernised. Our young people, and particularly our girls, are making history in every field right now. The Lt. Governor praised the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their “determination, dedication, and hard work” in creating an inclusive development plan for the region.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police’s innovative Civic Action Project, he said, is helping young people in the region realise their dreams.
The Lieutenant Governor issued a rallying cry for solidarity against the drug problem in all sectors of society.
He remarked that to counteract the neighbouring country’s evil plans and create a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir, this must be done
