December 23, Srinagar (KNS): Shashi Tharoor, a senior Congress leader and member of parliament, called the disqualification of 146 MPs on Saturday an “assault on parliamentary democracy.”
The Congress leader told reporters at a rally that 146 MPs’ disqualification was an attack on parliamentary democracy and that we are in a very dangerous position.
We are seeing a very serious attack on our parliamentary democracy. The purpose of our protests is to bring the nation’s attention to the dangerous state in which our democracy finds itself,” a Congress MP said.
He said that the suspension of 146 MPs at once had never happened before in history. He said, “It is a national disgrace to our country that it calls itself the mother of democracy and a blot on democracy.”
In response to a question, he said that the India Bloc’s future strategy will be to convince the nation’s citizens to support the alliance and preserve democracy. (KNS)
