December 23, Srinagar (KNS): On Saturday, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal was presented with a charge sheet by the Special Crime Wing (Crime Branch) Srinagar against a person who was allegedly admitted to a BUMS course using fraudulent documentation.


The Crime Branch wing of the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ganderbal today, December 22, 2023, produced a charge sheet in case FIR No. 17/2023 against the accused, Shahid-ul-Islam S/O Ghulam Nabi Mir R/O Prang, Kangan, Ganderbal U/S, for his involvement in the commission of offenses punishable under sections 420,465,468,471,201 RPC, according to a statement given to Kashmir News Service (KNS).

The statement read, “The accused person used a fake or forged 10+2 certificate for obtaining admission in the BUMS course and even managed to get the government job, to which he was not entitled.” It went on to say that the case was filed in the Police Station Special Crime Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) in response to a complaint made by Dr. Zaffar Shaheen, S/O Ghulam Mohammad Teeli, R/O Manigam, Ganderbal, alleging that Shahid-Ul-Islam, S/O Ghulam Nabi Mir, R/O Prang, Kangan, Ganderbal, had been admitted to the BUMS Course, session 2014, at the Institute of Asian Medical Sciences, through the University of Kashmir, based on a fraudulent and forged 10+2 marks certificate.

Additionally, it was claimed that the aforementioned accused utilized the forged and phony 10+2 certificate as support while applying for the issuing of a “Provisional Registration Certificate” to the Registrar of the Board of Ayurvedic/Unani System of Medicine. As a result, the Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Kashmir, Srinagar, opened an investigation under Registration No. ME: 01/2022, which resulted in the registration of the current case,” the statement said.

“Records relevant to the subject matter were collected and confiscated in accordance with protocol throughout the inquiry. Statements from those acquainted with the case’s circumstances and facts were documented. According to the investigation, the aforementioned accused faked his or her 10+2 certificate at the Institute of Asian Medical Sciences via the University of Kashmir in order to get admitted to the BUMS program for the 2014–2015 academic year. The inquiry also revealed that the accused applied for the issuing of a provisional registration certificate before the Registrar Board of the Ayurvedic “Unani System of Medicines” after the completion of the aforementioned course. The accused was chosen as a Medical Officer (AYUSH) by Director Rural Health Mission, J&K, via order No. 08 DRHSG of 2014, dated January 20, 2014, based on a forged 10+2 marks certificate and a BUMS degree certificate. On January 20, 2014, the accused turned in his joining report. But according to Govt. Order No. 178 of 2022, dated 12.12.2022, issued by the Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, J&K, the accused was fired from the government service,” the statement said.

“On the basis of facts and circumstances that emerged during the course of the investigation, the case has been charged against the said accused person before the Hon’ble Court of CJM Ganderbal, wherefrom he has been sent to judicial custody,” the statement said. (KNS)
