Bangalore, October 30: As rescue efforts in the Vizianagaram region of Andhra Pradesh continue, the number of fatalities from the train incident has increased to 13, according to authorities.

Close Player Unibots.in Vidianagaram Superintendent of Police M Deepika said, “There have been 13 deaths to date, 7 of whom have been identified, and the identification process is in progress for the remaining bodies.”

Prioritising work on track rehabilitation was stated by Biswajit Sahu, CPRO, East Coast Railway.

“The rescue effort has finally concluded. For the travellers that are stuck, we have scheduled buses and trains. Twenty-two trains have been diverted and eighteen cancelled. By 4 p.m. today, we want to clear the track,” said Biswajit Sahu.

According to Biswajit Sahu, victims who only had minor wounds have been taken to the Alamanda hospital, which is in the vicinity.


“More critical injuries have been sent to hospitals in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram, while passengers with lesser injuries are receiving first aid care at Alamanda Hospital. For the travellers who were stuck, we set up trains and buses. Numerous trains have been rerouted and cancelled. We have a support centre set up and are using SMS to educate the passengers.”


Sahu went on to say that 22 trains had been rerouted and 18 had been cancelled.

“Our two ART (Accident Relief Train) teams are working there, and all the staff from the Sambalpur headquarters division are working there, and we are trying to clear the track by 4 p.m. in the evening,” he said.


In the Vizianagaram region of Andhra Pradesh, a few coaches derailed when the Visakhapatnam-Ragada passenger train collided with another Visakhapatnam-Ragada train that was going along the same track on Sunday night, according to authorities.

According to the Divisional Railway Manager, the mishap affected three carriages. The passenger train travelling from Visakhapatnam to Palasa and the passenger train travelling from Visakhapatnam to Ragada collided at the back. The collision included three carriages.


Rescue efforts have begun, and the NDRF and local government have been notified to provide support and ambulances. The Divisional Railway Manager reported that accident relief trains had arrived at the scene.

The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Reddy, issued an order directing the dispatch of as many ambulances from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, along with emergency relief efforts.”

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Office posted on X (formerly Twitter) that CM Reddy had directed the dispatch of as many ambulances from Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, the nearest districts of Vizianagaram, and to take immediate relief measures in addition to making all kinds of arrangements in nearby hospitals to provide good medical care.”
