October 29, Kupwara: Red Wings Handwara emerged victorious in an exciting match in the Indian Army’s first women’s cricket competition, which culminated on Sunday at Bakiaker playground.

Red Wings Handwara upset Aushtosh Army Goodwill School Budkoot Handwara in a thrilling final, winning by a commanding 68 runs. Both the spirit of competitiveness and women’s cricket skills were on full display throughout the match.

An electrifying atmosphere reverberated with shouts, clapping, and resolute support for their chosen teams as fans and aficionados descended onto the site in droves. What a sight the cricketing spectacular was, with such passion and intensity.

With medals and thrilling cash awards, Aushtosh Army Goodwill School Budkoot Handwara, the runners-up, and the well-deserving Red Wings Handwara were recognised for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to the competition.

Leaders of state and distinguished visitors attended the last game; the chief guest was Nazir Ahmad, Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara. There were several dignitaries in attendance, including DDC Rajwar, Mir Sulaiman, Tehsildar Handwara, Shahbaz Ahmad, and Vice Chairman of the Municipal Committee Handwara, Bashir Ahmad Khan. In addition to highlighting the significance of programmes that advance sports and inclusion in the area, they praised the Indian Army and the local community for their cooperative efforts in planning this historic athletic event.
