Rajouri, Nov. 6: In the wake of Monday’s passenger car disaster in Rehan, which left three people dead and seventeen injured, the locals have demanded a safety assessment of the crucial Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal route as well as appropriate preventative measures.

A safety assessment of the road has been asked for by the local community, which has expressed alarm about the tragedy.
Locals said that the Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal route, which links the Rajouri district headquarters with the whole Kotranka subdivision, is one of the busiest in the district due to the high volume of traffic it experiences. They said that there are insufficient preventative measures for accidents on this route and that the regular occurrence of incidents on the road is still concerning.
Locals said that majority of the abrupt corners on this important route lack protective bands and had insufficient accident prevention measures.

“In order to make this road secure, significant measures must be taken.”
They said that the Rajouri-Kotranka-Budhal route is more dangerous since it goes through a difficult hilly area and is managed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
