Authorities in Srinagar said on Wednesday that they had apprehended a major drug dealer in the Baramulla area of northern Kashmir.
Continuing their “efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society,” police in Baramulla have apprehended a “notorious and wanted lady drug peddler” and “recovered contraband substances from her possession,” according to a statement released to GNS.
Trikanjan Boniyar police obtained credible information about the possible existence of illegal goods in a residence. As a result, SDPO Uri ordered a police team from Police Station Boniyar to conduct a raid at the aforementioned residence. Herion-like material weighing 60 grams was found in the presence of a woman, later identified as Farhat Begum @ Fancy, wife of Trikanjan Boniyar resident Rayees Ahmad Khan, according to the statement.
She is now being held in PS Boniyar after her arrest.
The statement states, “Therefore, a case has been registered under relevant sections of law at police station Boniyar, and investigations have been initiated.”
We want the general public to call 911 or go to the local police station if they see drug dealing or other criminal activity taking place in their area. The public is urged to help law enforcement agencies eradicate narcotics as a social problem. We guarantee the community that law enforcement will take a firm stance against those who break it,” the message continues. (GNS)
