“Revival of Sufi thought and Sufi shrines is the priority of the Waqf Board”: Darakhshan

October 12, SRINAGAR:Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi, Minister of State and Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, paid respects at the Ziyarat of Rishi Nooruddin Noorani (RA) during a visit to Qaimuh in South Kashmir today. It was her first trip to Kashmir’s initial spiritual home as the torchbearer of the Rishi order in her capacity as Chairperson of the Waqf Board. Along with the officials of the Waqf Board, Dr. Darakhshan was joined by the Deputy Commissioner of Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin, the SSP of Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal, and the Tehsildar of the locality. Dr. Andrabi took an interest in the Urs festivities and met with the authorities to discuss how best to accommodate devotees who would be visiting the shrine on the annual Urs. She also met with local representatives to learn more about the requirements at this important Kashmiri shrine. She gave the Waqf officers the instruction to work with the government to produce an upgrade plan for the shrine. Following the meeting, Dr. Andrabi told the reporters that soon the construction work at this well-known Sufi shrine would start. “All sufi shrines need a development boost, and the central government and LG administration are aware of this. The Waqf Board is likewise moving quickly towards the same goal. Our top objective at the Waqf Board is the repair of the sufi complexes across all of J&K, according to Darakhshan. She commended the government for working with the Waqf Board to reform the Waqf Working System in J&K significantly. She also expressed her gratitude to the populace for their ongoing support of her risky choices over the previous 17 months. The Waqf Board would get full assistance from the district government in the development of this important shrine, according to Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin.
