Baramulla, August 29: Sopore Police frozen and started forfeiture procedures for a significant amount of unlawfully obtained money of Rs. 1,25,06,377.10 (One Crore Twenty Five Lakhs Six Thousand Three Hundred Seventy Rupees) under the NDPS Act.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said that on August 29, 2023, PS Bomai of Police District Sopore was “investigating in case FIR No. 26 of 2023 U/Ss. 8/22 of the NDPS Act of Police Station Bomai in which one notorious drug trafficker, namely Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat S/O Ali Mohammad Bhat R/O Umerabad HMT Srinagar.”
was apprehended and discovered to be in possession of 350 Codeine Phosphate Bottles, each containing 100 millilitres. The accounts of the accused individual, which included a sizable sum of money that had been gained unlawfully and totaled Rs. 1,25,06,377.10, were frozen.
The bank balance of Rs. 1.25 crores (one crore twenty five lakhs six thousand three hundred seventy seven rupees) was ordered to be frozen/attached, and forfeiture proceedings of this unlawfully obtained property were brought before the competent authority, New Delhi, in accordance
the guidelines set out in Chapter VA of the 1985 Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The asset, which takes the shape of a bank balance, was just purchased illegally using the proceeds from drug trafficking.
This does not correspond with the accused’s sources of income.
It’s important to note that the aforementioned defendant was previously discovered to have been associated with case 1). 2). Parimpora Police Station’s FIR No. 337/2013 U/Ss. 8/22 of the NDPS Act. NDPS Act Sections 8/21, 22 and 29; and 3). FIR No. 92/2020 of PS Ram Munshibagh Srinagar. Sumbal Police Station’s FIR No. 121/2015 U/Ss. 8/21 NDPS Act. In the case FIR No. 26 of 2023 U/Ss. 8/22 of the NDPS Act of Police Station Bomai, an investigation is currently being conducted.
