The Doda district administration has advised residents to exercise caution and avoid waterways, rivers, and other vulnerable areas.

Bhaderwah, July 22: This morning, a powerful cloudburst that struck Kota Nullah in the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir swept away a portion of the Thaleela-CChirala link road and created a flood-like situation.

Sub Divisional Magistrate Thathri Athar Amin Zargar reported that a portion of the Thaleela-Chirala link road was swept away following an early morning cloudburst. “The cloud explosion and torrential rainfall caused mudslides and a circumstance similar to a deluge in Kota Nullah. However, no fatalities or injuries were reported. “Men and equipment are being deployed to clear the road of debris and restore it as soon as possible,” said SDM Thathri.

The portion of the Doda-Kishtwar highway that was closed due to a cloudburst between Shiva Pull and Thathri Petrol Pump has been reopened to two-way traffic, he added.

Meanwhile, torrential rainfall persisted in the majority of Doda and Kishtwar districts for the third consecutive day today, resulting in an increase in the water level of the Chenab river and its main tributaries, Neeru and Kalnai.

The Doda district administration has advised residents to exercise caution and avoid waterways, rivers, and other vulnerable areas.
